Watching Truck Wars on the history channel. Jason Torchinsky has made a few appearances and it seems pretty good so far.

Kinja'd!!!

Jason is the best at testing trucks. He knows all the right questions, like ‘Which truck bed makes the best ball pit?’ This is the kind of consu mer information everyone needs to know.

I liked this show, I thought they did a good job of covering most of the “game changers” and their impacts in the couple of hours that they had. There were a couple of things I’d have liked to see more of, like a few more innovations such as the introduction of the extended cab, the beginnings of the diesel motor and the legacy built by the Cummins, the influence of the 2001 Crew Cab F-150* , and of course the massive Japanese influence on the world of small pickups. I could watch this as a series, covering a different truck each episode, but for a two hour special they covered a good amount of stuff . It was a fun bonus seeing Torch as well, even though I don’t picture him as a truck expert** .

*Obviously not the first crew cab, which they covered on the show with the International, but it was the first widely available 1/2 ton crew cab, and it’s hard to argue that the crew cab craze didn’t start here.

** He clearly knows his stuff, I’m just used to all of his Beetle posts and random musings that I don’t associate him with trucks.
